The Third Month

You're nearing the end of the first trimester. By the end of the month, your baby will have all his or her working parts, and is bobbing around comfortably in the uterus. It's no longer an embryo, but a fetus. You and your baby are sharing blood, oxygen and food.

Meanwhile, you're surfing on a tidal wave of maternal hormones. That means you may find your emotions changing minute-to-minute. You can go from deliriously happy to worried to weepy at the drop of a hat.

Your partner may wonder what's going on. Of course, he has some emotional concerns of his own. He's probably wondering how he's going to care for his new family. He's concerned about the baby. And you. A little understanding on both your parts can go a long way right now.
