The Ninth Month

This is the month you've been waiting for. Your baby has been doing even more growing, especially during the last weeks. She's moved around into the position she'll take for delivery-usually head down, facing your back, and lower in your uterus. This position makes it a little easier for you to breathe, but it's more difficult to walk and to sit.

By now, you've been listening to your body for nine months. You're getting to know it better than ever. So when is "it" going to happen? When will your baby decide to make its debut? It's different for every woman, and every pregnancy.

At first, contractions will generally be mild and irregular. For first-time mothers, labor may progress slowly. But don't hesitate to call your doctor once those contractions begin. Remember the lessons from your birthing classes. Breathe, breathe, breathe.

Congratulations.

You've just begun.
